Dear Shareholders/Residents:
Many of you have asked about the refurbishment of our lobby over the past few months. We want to bring you up to date and also seek your understanding and patience as work continues. After some initial guidance from William Meyer, Mimi Maxmen has helped bring this project to fruition. We are most appreciative of their time and efforts.
The lobby floors were honed and polished to restore them to their grand luster. New metal paneled doors were installed on the Chiropractors’ office in the rear of the lobby and the entrance downstairs to the basement so now all the lobby doors match.
Beginning Monday, October 19th a painting contractor will begin work in the lobby. The scope of work includes scraping, priming and painting the lobby walls, ceiling, doors, trim and moldings. In addition they will paint the outside doors around the building. We anticipate painting will be accomplished in one month. As part of this project, the louver shutters will also be replaced and painted.
All bulbs in the lobby lighting fixtures will be replaced with LED bulbs. These will be more efficient and also brighten the areas. In addition, we will have new candle sleeves on the sconces as they have discolored over the years. We anticipate the colors of paint in the lobby will remain similar to what we have now to compliment our terrazzo floors – though the goal is to make everything “brighter” as many shareholders have requested.
We will restore the brass baseboards and grills. And two new leather sofas are on order to replace the wooden chairs. Some of you may recall similar leather sofas from the past. We will evaluate replacing the rug and coffee table, as well as lighting for the center lobby area after the painting is done and sofas are in place.
Temporary lighting will be provided by the painting contractors during their work. We thank you for your cooperation and patience during this time of renovation.
